Happy Halloween!

I am very excited to spend my Halloween with my nephew tonight. He is 16 months old now and I cant wait to see him dressed in his costume, a garden gnome!

I offered to bring a dessert tonight, so I figured I should go with a Halloween theme. I received this recipe from a friend. I slightly altered the recipe: I used Oreo® cookies instead of Heath® bars and I eliminated the coffee. I added a few touches: gummy worms and Milano® cookies… and VIOLA, my very own chocolate trifle graveyard!!

Happy Halloween!

Fall Is In the Hair

It appears shorter is in for fall. Kelly Ripa debuted her shorter, new do on LIVE this week. Other fun styles to look for this fall are even more braids, low pony tails, stick straight, the deconstructed/messy bun, and looser waves.

What trend will you be sportin’ this fall?

When in Doubt… Shoes

This summer was one of the fastest. I don’t know if it’s because I am so busy with work and school or what, but whatever the reason, summer is quickly coming to an end. Which can only mean one thing… FALL!

I am trying to be very good when it comes to my finances; however, it is really hard to resist the urge for new fall clothes. I couldn’t decide what trend or piece I wanted to invest in this fall season. I love so many of the new arrivals! So I figured… when in doubt… choose SHOES!

Steve Madden was offering 20% off (currently they are offering 25% off!), so I decided to treat myself. I am loving my new shoes and I can’t wait to rock them this fall!

That Added Touch

Since entering Cosmetology school 10 months ago, I view hair styles in a different light, especially hair accessories. I have a whole new love for an accessory that accentuates a cute style. Here are some of my recent favs:

Abstract Print Head Wrap available at South Moon Under; $12.95

Try pairing the above with a messy topknot.

Filigree Headwrap available at Urban Outfitters; $12

Namrata Joshipura Silk Embellished Twist Turban available at South Moon Under; $28

The above two would look great with straight hair or beach waves. Either style will sure to be a hit!

Arm Party

Lately, my go-to jewelry look has been a simple stud earring with a few bracelets. I love the simplicity of the look yet at the same time, the bracelets add the right amount of fun to the outfit.

I almost always throw a watch on with my looks. I switch between a silver Michael Kors watch and a gold watch that my dad received and I stole from him HA! Thanks again dad! However, I am loving the mix of gold and silver in the above Michael Kors watch. (hint hint for W 😉 )

Home Sweet Home

It’s a given that I love all things fashion, but I also love interior design. I appreciate a well decorated, cozy living space. Whether its curtains, an area rug, or just a few bold, colored pieces, its amazing how sometimes the smallest accents can make a big difference.

Here are a few things that I wouldn’t mind having for my house!

Bedding from West ElmLamp available at Overstock

Bedding from West Elm
Lamp available at Overstock

My bedroom currently consists of the above West Elm duvet, but I own it in a different color (sea spray). I love the duvet, but I don’t love the current color with my bedroom color palette (teal, gray, and white). I would love to swap the current duvet for the above slate color. I think the teal with the dark gray would be very rich but the white furniture in the room would balance it out perfectly.

Also, I love the modern feel of the Overstock lamp pictured above. It’s simple yet very chic.  I’ll take two =)

All of the above available at Anthropologie

I love the vintage vibe of the Anthropologie measuring spoons and bowls. They are too pretty to be tucked away in a cabinet. They are great display pieces and the perfect pop of color for a kitchen.

I also have the above hand soap and am obsessed. The smell (lemon tarragon) is amazing!

Curtains available at Crate and Barrel

Curtains available at Crate and Barrel

I have been searching high and low for yellow curtains for my dining room. I don’t want a floral pattern and I don’t want the yellow to be over powering. I love the pattern and subtle color in the above Crate and Barrel curtains! Need them!

Bright and Cheery

You would never know it was spring by the snowfall we had yesterday. But today, I vowed to wear something bright and cheery to outshine the gloomy, gray skies outside. Hopefully we’ll see the sun and warmer weather around here very soon!

Here are some fun items I am currently loving for spring/summer…

Pep in My Step

It’s a given… I love shoes! I’m obsessed. From a fun colored flat, to a great statement shoe, I LOVE them! With many new arrivals hitting the shelves, I can’t help but look to see what each store has to offer.

I’ll take each one in a size 7!

1. The two-toned platform in suede by Madewell, Sale $169.50

2. ‘Petty’ Bootie by Sam Edelman. Available at Nordstrom. $129.95

3. Leighton by Sam Edelman. Other colors available at Nordstrom $99.95

4. Antonella by Report. Available at Piperlime. $60

5. Seville Wedge Espadrilles by J. Crew, $128

Transitional Pieces

The key to in-between seasons is layers! When it’s a little too warm for your heavy winter jacket, but still a little too chilly to go without. Instead try layering a tee, with a denim vest then add a light jacket. Or pair your top with a lightweight scarf then complete the look with a light sweater or blazer.

Here are some transitional pieces that I am currently pining over.
